Short description of internship:
This is an NGO that provides a framework for contemporary mentorship in South Africa in an attempt to restore a positive life vision and provide inspirational role models to youth. The programme offers one-to-one mentoring relationships to children in need. Their key focus areas are Schools Programme, Children's Home Programme, Diversion Programme and Programme in support of those affected and/or infected by HIV/AIDS.
Internship tasks:
- As an intern you will be given a project to aid the organisation in getting general exposure. You will also be responsible for:
- Maintaining their present initiatives which focus on newspaper articles, radio talk shows, presentations to interested parties, corporate and small businesses, quarterly newsletters.
- New Initiatives: E-bulletins to other branches, fundraising events, outings for matches, webpage updating. As an intern you would work with the present PR staff member and enhance and strengthen the portfolio.
Applicant requirements:
- NGO/Media/Communication background
- Strong administrative, communication and organizational skills, as you will play a big part in social and community development, providing you with the opportunity to get to know the real South Africa.
- Interpersonal effectiveness is of high importance, and you will be required to incorporate
- the use of initiative as well as the quality, accuracy and timeousness of work.
- Lastly, this position calls for a competent motivated individual who will be working in a stimulating work environment that will ensure a successful internship.
