The picturesque village of Tulbagh is famous for its vast heritage of Cape Dutch and victorian architecture, especially in Church Street.

The houses there were badly damaged during an earthquake in 1969 and 32 buildings had to be restored to their original form. They were later declared national monuments. The village is surrounded on three sides by majestic mountain ranges. The interaction between mountains, vineyards and wheatfields is quite spectacular.
In Tulbagh there are museums, idyllic restaurants, arts, crafts and antiques, and wine and fruit farms which offer guided tours.
Horse-riding, mountain-bike riding, 4x4 tours can be organised. Or you can join Uschis own Aerobics and Aquarobics club !

Climate
November throught to April is the best time to travel when we have hardly any rainfall and the temperatures range between 30-40 C with a cooling wind. May, September and October are a bit cooler normally ranging between 20-25 C. In June, July and August we have our winter rainfall, but less in Tulbagh as in Cape Town, but also sunny days with crisp clear air, green pastures and beautiful clean views.
